Boehmer's Blacksmith Shop |
DESCRIPTION |
|
Interior view of Boemer's Blacksmith Shop located at 405 Laguna Street in Corpus Christi, Texas. Two men in dirty work coveralls stand in the center of a spacious blacksmith shop. The man on the left is owner John Boehmer. This shop was powered by a centralized gasoline engine. Power tools were hooked up to belts which were powered by a line shaft that ran along the ceiling. Note the plow shares, the drill press, the power-driven hacksaw, the anvil, and the barrel of water used for quincing. The dirt floor was characteristic of all blacksmith shops. |
